Sometimes it the small things which make a difference.

one comment

Hello let me introduce myself, I am Liam Devine and I will be your host for this journey.

Originally I wanted to use the company name “Devine by Design” yet it was already in use on the App Store. My reasons where firstly because my surname is Devine and secondly it makes a statement that any products are good by design not by fault. This site is an example of being “Devine by design” and I would hope you would agree, if you do not feel it is please do tell me via the comments and I will see how it can be improved.

Why do I bring up another iProduct developers name? Well, if you search the App Store for their name and select to view the application you may notice something which suggests that there has not been enough design. I do not mean to imply the application is substandard as I have never used it, yet there is something else which I have found many developers on the store guilty of and to be honest I just do not understand it.

What am I talking about?

It has a description, screen shot and company details what could be so wrong with it?
This is where I think Apple’s “design” comes into play. You have arrived at the App Store and are viewing an application which if sold they will take a cut, the last thing they want you to do it leave the store before purchasing it or any other application which may take your fancy. What Apple design does is prevent a clickable URL to the applications site, seems sensible. The App Store layout, as you would imagine from the HIC masters at Apple, is also by design. On an iPod or iPhone device the page is of a fixed width and fixed rotation.

What could possibly go wrong?

Take a look at the following screen shot.

What is the URL

What is the URL ? .net, .com, .co.uk or other? Also does an application developer expect a user to remember and type in a long URL?

Hence the point of this hello world post, the small domain name dguk.net has been registered for this purpose.

Sometimes it is the small things which make a difference.
